Hourly to salary, and how it compares to minimum wage

Hourly rate × hours per week × weeks per year gives gross annual pay, with anything over 40 hours paid at 1.5×. Compare it against state minimum wages and see an estimated take-home figure after federal tax and FICA.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the regular hourly rate, normal weekly hours and paid working weeks for a realistic gross-pay estimate.
  2. Separate overtime hours so they receive the modeled 1.5× rate rather than being treated as regular pay.
  3. Compare the estimated take-home pay with a pay stub and update benefits or local taxes outside the calculator.

How to read the result

Gross annual pay is the wage conversion before tax. Estimated take-home subtracts simplified federal income tax and FICA; the state comparison shows the difference between the entered rate and the selected state's statutory minimum.

What this estimate does not capture

Overtime exemptions, tipped wages, local minimums, credits, filing details and payroll deductions vary. This estimate is not a payroll calculation and should not be used to verify legal wage compliance.

Methodology, assumptions & limits

Inputs are applied directly to standard finance formulas with monthly compounding where relevant. Results are estimates in the selected currency; they do not include every tax, fee, benefit, market event or local rule. Try a conservative and an optimistic case before making a decision.
