How to read the result

Annual take-home equals gross salary minus taxes, employee social insurance and other cash deductions. Divide by 12 for a monthly average; actual payslips may vary.

Entered-deduction mode supports all 218 economies. It does not estimate local tax rules. US and Japan models have their own stated assumptions; country selection is independent of interface language.

What this estimate does not capture

Entered-deduction mode supports all 218 economies. It does not estimate local tax rules. US and Japan models have their own stated assumptions; country selection is independent of interface language.

United States: calculation basis and example

The US estimate covers the selected federal filing status and employee FICA. Enter applicable state and local taxes and other deductions separately; it is not a complete tax return.

Fixed educational comparison in USD, independent of the inputs above.

Use entered annual deductions mode: gross pay $60,000.00, income tax $9,000.00, employee social contributions $3,000.00. Compare other annual cash deductions of $1,200.00 and $1,800.00. These are hypothetical amounts, not United States tax rates or allowances.

Results under the stated assumptions
Other annual deductionsAnnual take-homeMonthly average
$1,200.00$46,800.00$3,900.00
$1,800.00$46,200.00$3,850.00

What the difference tells you

The extra $600.00 deduction reduces monthly cash by $50.00. Monthly average means annual take-home divided by 12; it is not the amount on every weekly or fortnightly payslip. A pension contribution can reduce cash while building retirement savings, so lower take-home is not necessarily a loss of the same amount in total compensation.

Reproduce and compare

Copy annual figures from the same payroll period into the tool, keeping tax and employee contributions in separate fields. Change only other deductions, then calculate again to isolate their effect. Do not count a deduction both here and in the gross salary figure.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use this outside the United States?

Yes. Select any supported country and enter annual deductions from a payslip or tax estimate. US rules are never applied to another country.

Which countries have automatic tax estimates?

The US has a simplified 2026 federal, FICA and state model. Japan has a 2026 resident salary income-tax estimate with manually entered social insurance and resident tax. Other countries use entered deductions.

Why must I confirm deductions?

A missing deduction amount does not mean a zero tax rate. Confirm all amounts, including genuine zeros, before displaying take-home pay.
